Bald Eagles. Oregon Zoo. July 7, 2010.
My two year old niece recognized the famous McDonald’s M on one of those placement ads surrounding The Johannesburg Soccer Stadium. She got very excited and started screaming “I want McDonalds” repeatedly. Congratulations America, you have won.
Today I decide to try not one, but two of the Infamous chicken sandwich know as the “Double Down”. For those of you that don’t know. The Double Down is a chicken sandwich made out of 2 strips of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese and Colonel’s Sauce sandwiched in between two boneless chicken fillets (your choice of original recipe or grilled). Now doesn’t that sound delicious.
Like everyone else I was curious about the “nutritional” facts of the Double Down and this is what I found:
- Calories = 540
- 32 grams of fat
- 1380 msg of sodium
Now multiply that times 2 since I had…two of them and add a Lg Dr.Pepper to the mix and you have about:
- Calories = 1080 + 150 (Dr.Pepper) = 1230
- 64 grams of fat
- 2760 msg of sodium
Now to put it in to perceptive; According to netrition.com
Your daily recommended calorie intake for adults and children 4 years and above is 2,000 calories. Granted I didn’t surpassed that, but thats all in one day. I almost had that in one meal serving!
So what about the taste?…DELICIOUS, a little salty, but that didn’t ruin the whole experience. I dare say it was one of the better sandwiches on the KFC menu. I mean, I had two for godsakes! Now if you’ll excuse me I’m feeling a little nauseous. I’ma go lay down for a bit.
